How Circular Economy Modernises Industries

Austria's resource-intensive and largely linear economic model leaves great potential untapped. The good news: we can strengthen the economy with circular economy.
A new study by the KONTEXT Institute uses the resource- and energy-intensive construction and metal sectors as examples to show that the circular economy can make a significant contribution to modernising industry. With the right measures, raw materials, energy, and emissions are saved while jobs and prosperity are secured at the same time. The study is based on a modelling by the Austrian Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt, UBA) and the Center of Economic Analysis and Research (CESAR), commissioned by Kontext.
